The Pitts Model 12 was designed by Curtis Pitts in the mid 1990's and first flew in 1996.
Soon afterwards Jim Kimball Enterprises aquired rights to the plane, and Kevin Kimball has been improving
it ever since.
Most airplanes built have been the "Kimball HP" version
which has many performance improvements over Curtis' original design while maintaining the unmistakable "Pitts" look and excellent
flying qualities.
